Sabarmati Ashram
Sabarmati Ashram sits peacefully along the Sabarmati River’s edge. It was one of the many residences of Mahatma Gandhi and this is where the Dandi March began on March 12, 1930. Because of its importance in history, the Indian government has marked the ashram as a national monument. The Ashram now houses a museum that chronicles events during the course of India’s struggle for independence.
Afterward, you can explore the Sabarmati riverfront. It is an 11 km (7 mile) stretch along the river dotted with parks and gardens, markets, and boating areas.

Statue of Unity
Situated 200 kilometers from Ahmedabad, the world’s tallest statue soars to a staggering 182 meters (597 ft). It represents our country’s core values, including our history, culture, and education. The statue honors Vallabhbhai Patel, the first deputy prime minister and home minister of Sovereign India.

Akshardham Temple
Constructed using 6,000 tonnes of pink sandstone sourced from Rajasthan, the Akshardham temple features 97 carved pillars, 17 domes, 8 balconies, 220 stone beams and 264 sculpted figures. An interesting fact about the temple is that it was built without using any steel.

Adalaj Stepwell
Stepwells were man-made stepped ponds built along trade routes to store monsoon rains and as rest areas for weary travelers. The Adalaj Stepwell was commissioned by Queen Rudabai of Dandai Desh in 1498. The way this building is constructed keeps the inside of the stepwell about 6 degrees cooler than the outside. Interestingly, the structure features a “navgraha” at the well’s end, thought to protect this historical site from evil spirits.

Calico Museum of Textiles
Located in Ahmedabad’s Shahibaug area, the Calico Textile Museum was founded by the Sarabhai Foundation in 1984. It is one of the oldest museums in the country. Here, you will find a diverse collection of traditional Indian textiles as well as 18th-century religious paintings on cloth, tribal art, Pichwai hangings and South Indian bronzes.

Science City, located off the Sarkhej Gandhinagar Highway in Ahmedabad, is a government initiative that aims to make science accessible to the general public through entertaining and educational exhibits. Auto World Vintage Car Museum
With over 300 mechanical marvels, this museum found its way into the Guinness Book of World Records in 1987 as the owner of the world’s largest private garage. In 2006, Ulrich Schmid-Maybach, a member of the Maybach family from Germany, made a trip to Ahmedabad to persuade Pranlal Bhogilal to sell him a 6-cylinder Maybach, a vehicle crafted by his grandfather. But Bhogilal said no to selling this special car.

Sun Temple Modhera
The Modhera Sun Temple was constructed in 1026 CE during Bhima I’s rule in the Chaulukya dynasty. As you enter the complex, you come across the Ramakund, housing 108 shrines devoted to various gods. Inside, the ‘Sabha Mandap’ displays statues of twelve gods, each representing one of the twelve months of the year. And although the sun god’s statue may be gone and the Suryavanshi Solankis, a historical lineage of rulers that have faded into history but the temple’s deep spiritual ambiance endures.
